David was born in Johannesburg South Africa where he attended the University of Witwatersrand obtaining his law and commerce degrees in 1994. He then worked as an attorney for a large law firm before immigrating to the U.S. in 1999.
As Managing Partner, David is responsible for directing The Niki Group’s business operations, portfolio management and overall growth. David’s legal background and tireless detailed involvement, are essential to The Niki Group’s ability to move quickly, and, ensures successful closings. He undertakes a very hands-on approach to every project and sees through each transaction. In his career, David has overseen in excess of $1 billion of transactions.
David’s strong work ethic, coupled with his values, have been the foundation of his approach to all his relationships. A man of principles and fairness, he is respected in the industry as being an equal opportunity player. David is esteemed among his peers as much for his successes, as for his strength of character.
David is an avid golfer and enjoys running. Together, he and his wife Caron are raising four beautiful children.
As the original founder and Chief Executive Officer of Niki Developments, Inc., Peter has over 30 years of experience in developing custom real estate and financial solutions for a wide range of clients. His personal commitment and passion for finding the right solution is one of the driving forces behind The Niki Group’s do-whatever-it-takes philosophy. Prior to starting Niki Developments, Peter was co-founder of Doric Scientific Corporation, which made gateways in electronic measuring systems and would later merge into Emerson Electric Co (NYSE: EMR). This launched Peter’s career into real estate, and, with Draper & Kramer as partners, Peter developed numerous flex space buildings in San Diego. In 2000, Peter and David decisively set about establishing a partnership of integrity and credibility. Over the 16 years together, their partnership has grown to be very successful.
Peter has won over 40 races with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the American City Racing League (ARL) as well as placing 1st in three year-end championships. He is now a competitive sailor. Peter is the father of four children who idolize him. His wife Sandi is the love of his life.
Matt received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2015. During law school, Matt was a member of the San Diego Law Review and served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Janis L. Sammartino of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Matt began his career by conducting engineering studies on large office buildings for an energy engineering company. Matt has also worked on new construction, commissioning LEED projects in California. He has experience in commercial mortgage back securities and their corresponding challenges.
Matt is responsible for working with lenders, sellers and buyers to ensure smooth deals. In addition, Matt enjoys searching for new real estate investment opportunities and the underwriting of deals.
Matt became a member of the California State Bar in 2015.
Matt is a competitive sailor and during his free time, he enjoys free-diving and surfing.
Genevieve has managed all aspects of The Niki Group’s operations including acquisitions, dispositions, 1031 exchanges and particularly financings, over the last 10 years. Genevieve has directed and closed in excess of $675 million of transactions and over $350 million in financing. Her attention to detail paired with her transactional knowledge and experience ensures results and make her an integral part of our management team. She is charged with executing for The Niki Group and exceeds in this regard. Genevieve is very adept and efficient in implementing scalable solutions.
Genevieve is an exceptionally devoted mother to her sons Ethan & Landon and wife to Ray. She is an avid reader and fitness enthusiast.
Monica is a graduate of the University of California San Diego where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business psychology. For the last seven years, Monica has provided executive support and consulting to local organizations in the financial and real estate sectors.
At The Niki Group, Monica assists the Operations department on all aspects of the team’s acquisition, financing and sale transactions. In addition, Monica is responsible for assisting with the creation and implementation of operational procedures.
Outside of work, Monica can most often be found enjoying live theatre, improvisational comedy or a great film.
Nicole is a graduate of the USD Business Practice Specialty Paralegal Program. She also has a background in multimedia having graduated from the UCSD Visual Communication and Multimedia Program.
Nicole has worked as a paralegal and legal assistant in the real estate sector and in corporate law firms specializing in corporate law, licensing and administrative law. Before she ventured into the legal field, Nicole worked as a multimedia designer doing graphic design, web design and photography as well as working in the radio industry.
At The Niki Group, Nicole works in the operations department as a paralegal. In addition to providing general assistance, she primarily assists with loan closings, property management and the maintenance of insurance policies for all our managed properties.
Nicole is a mother of two boys. She enjoys beach time with the kids and their two dogs, kayaking, horseback riding, photography and is an avid reader.
Cheri graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Diego State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting on her journey to become a CPA. She found her niche in Real Estate and honed her accounting, analytical and training skills as an audit manager at Kenneth Leventhal & Company and an associate director of real estate training at Ernst & Young LLP. She has also managed all aspects of finance and accounting in real estate investment and management as a Chief Financial Officer for over 15 years.
Cheri has always led our accounting team with excellence and precision. She has worked and partnered with Peter Zarcades and David Trakman for 18 years and has a reputation for being a solid advisor through market and business transitions. Cheri has produced comprehensive financials for us and is most appreciated in our group for her guidance, quality control, business acumen and objectivity.
Traveling to the corners of the United States or back country hiking keep Cheri happy and healthy. Her extended family lives in Stockholm Sweden.
Dana is an accounting professional with 30 years of experience and an exceptional track record of success and achievements in general accounting, job cost accounting and full charge bookkeeping through financial statements. She has specialized expertise in Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Budget Analysis, General Ledger and Reconciliations. She has garnered extensive experience with Timberline Accounting System, General Accepted Accounting Practices and Financial Reporting for general business, as well as the real estate industry. She has held senior positions with a REIT, a multi-family developer and a custom homebuilder here in San Diego. Dana is known among her peers as professional, personal and as a very cohesive and harmonious individual with an eye for detail and a knack for adaptability.
Dana manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, check distributions, and mortgage and sales tax payments. She is also the main liaison with our banking institution and is responsible for opening/closing all accounts and reconciling statements.
Dana is the proud mother of both her two children. Whenever possible, she enjoys exploring San Diego’s beautiful beaches, mountains and state parks.
Prior to joining The Niki Group as a consultant, Gary held the role of Senior Executive in a Risk Management, Treasury and Compliance consulting practice. He was primarily responsible for the tax compliance programs (including FATCA). Gary has twenty years of experience in various Accounting, Risk Management and Information Technology positions predominately in the Financial Services sector. He has a degree in Accounting & Information Systems as well as a Master of Science (Software Engineering) from Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
Gary provides The Niki Group with the ability to further achieve its goals of transparency, accuracy and accountability. He intends to systematize our results in a meaningful way, so that we can clearly judge our investments to a critical standard.
Gary and his wife Lindy have four children. His hobbies include swimming, reading and photography.
Juliann received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from San Diego State University. Upon graduating, Juliann worked as a staff accountant for a small CPA firm in San Diego. Her responsibilities included filing Corporation and Individual income tax returns as well as providing general accounting and bookkeeping services to a number of different clients. Juliann moved on from public accounting by joining a large San Diego based telecommunications company. There, she developped her knowledge of sales tax, accounting, and accounting systems over the course of five and a half years. Once the company was acquired, Juliann garnered valuable experience helping the company’s wind down team. She assisted the AR and AP department along with having sole responsibility of the Tax department until the company eventually closed.
At The Niki Group, Juliann is in charge of processing invoices and check distributions. She prepares sales tax returns, reconciles bank accounts and general support and assistance within the accounting team.
Juliann is a sports enthusiast and plays co-ed softball whenever time permits. She and her boyfriend enjoy attending college basketball and football games as well as music festivals.
Kirk received his Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of San Diego and acquired his CPA designation in 2014.
Kirk began his accounting career performing tax accounting for a top 10 public accounting company. He is experienced in providing a full spectrum of corporate and partnership tax services, including compliance, planning, research and provision work. His last position was at nonprofit sector performing key accounting and finance responsibilities for reporting to 2,000+ current and prospective donors.
At the Niki Group, Kirk is responsible for accounting compliance with acquisitions, dispositions and taxes. His duties also include assistance with loans, cash activity and investor reporting.
Kirk and his wife Urszula are the proud parents of a baby boy. He enjoys golf, traveling and an active San Diego lifestyle. Kirk also spends his time giving back to local charities and sits on the board of directors for Home of Guiding Hands.
Madison received her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Loyola Marymount University. Since graduation, Madison has worked as a financial analyst for a small television station in Los Angeles and as a senior accountant for a consulting firm.
At The Niki Group, Madison is responsible for processing invoices, preparing sales tax returns, reconciling bank accounts and general support and assistance within the accounting team.
Outside of work, Madison enjoys cooking and coaching soccer.
